DVD drive is unrecognizeable – dell inspirion 6000

Hi,
Very recently I noticed that my DVD drive is unrecognizable. I tried CDs, DVDs but it does not recognize D:/ drive(DVD Drive). I have updated the latest DVD drivers by downloading from DELL but still no luck.

I have windows XP professional,
DELL model – Inspirion 6000

Any help is greatly appreciated.
