dvd is working but cd is not recognize

good day!!!its my first time to this forum…anyone can help me to explain why my dvdrom is working only on dvd and not recognized the cd format..i’m using hp pavilion dv6000 model with hl dt st dvdram gsa t20n ata….tnx
