Easiest multi-user n/w internet access?

What is the simplest and easiest multi-user n/w internet access to implement and manage?
I’ve tried Wingate and Mdaemon and find them difficult to implement..does anyone think it is worth buying those white boxes which are supposedly 2idiot proof”.?
