eDirectory on Linux Red Hat 9

I have recently installed eDirectory 8.7.1 (10510.64) on Red Hat 9 (2.4.22). The installation was successful, the services are installed and running, and an “ndsstat” returns the information for the tree I created–so I’m guessing that it should have worked. However, when I try to login to the tree with Novell Client 4.9 SP1, it will not see the tree. You can ping the server that NDS is running on, but the client will not see the tree, even if you manually enter the tree name. What gives?? You -should- be able to use the client to log in to eDirectory running on linux, correct?
