Emails from outlook that are scrambled

I sent an email to a distribution list announcing an event that I wanted the recipients to attend.
The email when I received it in my yahoo account had mostly illegible text along with the message I was trying to send. I had used the add event tab to have the date and location placed in the email automatically.
