Embedded Windows CE Net Platform SDK – onkeypress event does not work

The Javascript command onkeypress does not appear to work in Windows CE platform SDK when using the harware Symbol scanner; come up with a Javascript runtime error.
The Javascript command works perfectly when running the code on my laptop in IE
