Employer blocks transfer to IT Departmen

I recently realized my employer will never allow me to transfer to the IT department even though I am computer literate and close to gettng my IS degree. I am currently ranked in the junior class. I have cut back on my classes for the fall to pursue my A+ Network and CNA certification. But my current employers won’t consider me for any technical position without formal experience. Do you think I might be able to break into the IT field at some other company? What should I do when I get certified in a month or so?
