Escaping “&” in SOLARIS

When I write a file name containing “&” its get stored in SOLARIS file system as “&”.
Though i tried with escape sequence, the “&” is still gets stored as “&”.

Is there anyone to give a solution on escape sequencing ampersand in UNIX. Kindly pass the code examples to eliminate the concatenation of “amp;” with “&”.
