Event ID: 1000 – RegLoadKey filed with error 87

by bcom . Updated 22 years ago

I’m tyring to set up a server on a domain and I keep getting the following entry in the event viewer application log when logging on with any domain account, including the domain administrator account:

Event ID: 1000
Source: Userenv

Description: RegLoadKey failed with error 87 for C:\WINNT\Profiles\username\prf(x).tmp

where (x) is an incremental value starting at 1.

I am running NT Server 4.0 on a Dell PowerEdge 1400SC

I’ve tried many installation attemps varying the procedure (reformatting SCSI Drives, with and without using Dell’s setup CD, etc …)

This event does not occur if I log on locally or if I add the server to an other domain.

So it seems there might be some kind of policy or user rights assignment that prevents the proper loading of the user profiles … but this is a simple Network and there are no policies in effect

I have reviewed Technet articles 189119 and 185198 … No evident solution to be found

If anyone has had this problem,
Any help would be greatly appreciated
