Everything is opening up in Wordperfect Lightning!!!

I just installed Wordperfect Office X4 and all of my old word perfect documents are opening up in Lightning and I can’t do anything to them, make changes etc. I removed the old Word perfect program, could this be why? Should I have left it in? I thought the new version would take over…please help! Their website support is useless…
