Excel 2003 – wrapping text causes text to disappear on spreadsheet.

Format, wrap text, causes the text not to display on the screen but it is still in the spreadsheet as demonstrated by the menu bar display of the text. If i deselect wrap text all of the text is visible again? I have searched microsoft and the web, tried to change the font, alignment etc. and can not figure it out.
