Excel 2007

I have a computer with Excel 2007 that every time you open an excel document it automatically opens it as a copy. This started about 2 weeks ago when a frustrated person started hitting buttons to shut down their computer. How can I turn this setting off? I can’t find a tip on this anywhere.
