Excel 2007 – Default absolute reference

Hello,

I am pulling specific line items from one workbook to another using the “SUM” formula, this should be fairly easy, however, everytime I select the reference cell, Excel, by default, includes an absolute reference. This then requires that I F2 into the formula and remove the absolute reference via F4. As you can imagine this adds quite a bit of time to an otherwise simple task.

Does anyone have any idea how to get Excel to stop defaulting to an absolute reference when pulling data from other workbooks?
