Excel Help

Hello All,

Need some help with an excel project … looking for a formula to manipulate an old asset number to a new format …

old format is either a 4 or 5 digit number

1001, 1002 .. or 20021 for example

The new format adds ME- and the first digit of the old number

1001 turns into ME-11001, 20021 = ME-220021, etc

I have the “ME-” part down =(“ME-“&A2) but not sure how to add the fisrt digit of the old number?

Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction?
