Excel Mail Merge – showing an extra .0 in Zip Code field

I am attempting to merge an Excel cell range with the mail merge wizard in Microsoft Word. Everything goes without a hitch except the Zip Code. I have tried it several different ways (with the excel data formatted as Number, Text, Custom #####, etc.), but no matter what I do, the mail merge pulls the Zip Code as #####.0 (For example: 90210.0). Does anybody have a suggestion on how to rid my merge of the extra .0??
