Excel Recovery?

How do I retrieve an Excel Document if my computer freezes, are there any 3rd party applications that will add the autosave feature to Excel. The VP of our company was working on a document for a few hours, and didn’t bother to save it every 5 minutes and his computer froze and lost everything, so I need to recover it.
