We have a NT 4.0 sp6a file server that constantly exceeds the maximum “file Directory Searches” generating Event 2009 errors in the system log. We have followed Microsoft’s Q165815 document, increasing the valuse for these searches. The “searches” continualy grow (currently at 25,512 with the server showing 18 sessions, 159 open files, 354 file locks and 2 open named pipes) until the server is rebooted which then resets the searches to 0. The searches will vary from 0 to about 30 for two or three weeks then start to climb. I believe it is specific to an application running on a users desktop, but can’t narrow it down. Is there any way to tell what files are associated with the “File Directory Searchs” ?
thanks,
Tom
