Exchange 2000 and SendMail

I setup a Win2k Domain Controller running DNS, Active Directory Services, and Exchange 2000. We have a SUN Solaris box running SendMail. All mail internally and externally goes through the SUN box. How do I get the Exchange server to forward and receive mail to and from the SUN box and from SMTP servers outside of the firewall?
