Exchange 5.5 and Raptor 6.0 and Outlook

I am trying to get my exchange clients to connect to my exchange server using outlook 98/2000 through our firewall. smtp is set up and sending mail outside and inside works fine but getting a connection to my server with the outlook client does notonce they are outside the firewall. Any ideas? Security risks?
