Replies to my e-mails are received back as an ‘Untitled Attachment’ in an e-mail along with the signature logo attached as image001.gif. The body of the e-mail itself is blank, one must open the ‘Untitled Attachment’ to read the reply which is formatted fine along with in-line graphic showing in signature.
When I send an e-mail to a Notes account (Notes server v7 at another domain), the e-mail shows a Page Break line near the bottom followed by the graphics as an attachment and in-line with the body of the message.
On reply, the Notes client pops up a warning:
“MIME Save Warning – The following items cannot be sent or saved in MIME (Internet mail) format. Do you want to continue sending /saving this document?
[Page Break]
Yes / No”
If I press Yes, the recipient received the reply as an attachment to an otherwise empty e-mail body.
If I remove the page break and reply, the mail is received normally, not as an attachment and formatting is all OK.
The sender reports it happens with many replies from many outside contacts, but not all. Internal mail is always OK.
The sender domain is running Exchange 5.5 with clients on Outlook 97-2003. All clients started to add a standard company signature with logo to their e-mails recently starting this problem.
I tried Outlook 97 – 2003 with and without Word as an editor. Same page break.
I pasted a graphic in the body of an e-mail with no spaces, returns or signature and sent to my Notes account. I still get a page break.
How is this ‘Page Break’ getting in the e-mail and how can I stop it? From what I can determine, it seems to have something to do with MIME. I don’t see anything I can adjust on the Exchange SMTP connector to change this.
I sent e-mails with logo’s to a Hotmail and Gmail account, replied and received both normally, no attachments. So maybe it’s an issue between Notes and Exchange?
