Exchange 5.5 Site Errors -BrainTeaser

by rbrittigan . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

Hey folks! Hope you are having a good day…

When attempting to add a second server to my site (in preparation for upgrading the primary box), I receive the following error:

Processing file “\server.ins’, at or near line 276
No mapping between account names and security IDs was done
Microsoft Windows NT
ID no: 0xc0020534

A quick check on technet & Microsoft’s site reveal the cause to be either a BDC not able to talk to PDC (Q174729, however I can map a drive – both ways), or the services are pointing to the local admin account instead of the Domain admin account (Q263268). I have manually changed the service account (both through control panel AND through the registry), to no avail. During the install process, when it asks for the user account / password, it always defaults to “./administrator” and will NOT allow me to change it to Domain/Administrator

I can’t do a simple backup / restore to the new machine because the registry is ‘futzed’ on the original box….

(Winnt 4.0 with SP6a, IIs4 Option Pack 4, machine is BDC in same domain as existing server, all on LAN, System/Application logs clean on boot)

I have kept the default locations for all files (May move them later, but needed a ‘clean’ install)

I have re-installed / uninstalled / reformatted several times now & am open for suggestions…

Thanks…

Rob
