Exchange authentication problem

I am having a strange problem. I am running Exchange 5.5 sp4 on Windows 2000 sp2. There is only the one Exchange server. My problem is, now when I create a new Active Directory user account and a matching mailbox, that user cannot access the mailbox. An exchange dialog box pops up prompting for username and password. The only username that works is the admin one. This will allow them access for as long as they have Outlook open. This has been happening for about a week with all new accounts. I have tried removing the accounts and mailboxes and remaking them to no avail. I have tried having Exchange make the NT accounts…nope. Also have tried making the “everyone” group the mailbox owner.

Obviously, there is some kind of authenticationproblem between the domain and the exchange server. But why only the new accounts? Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
