Exchange Server Auto Return Messages

by bstroh . Updated 25 years, 10 months ago

My company has had alot of layoffs in the past few months which has led to the eventual deletion(usually 30 days)of those clients mailboxes. Now I get all the messages that were supposed to go to these people as Undeliverable messages to the Administrator mailbox.
I run Outlook 98 and 2000 clients and have tried in the rules wizard to set up a rule for the server to return to sender all messages that arrive bearing these client names. I get an error message saying it cannot save this rule because there is no room for this rule(something to that effect)I only have client side rules stup at this point so I dont understand the message.
What I would like to know most though is
How can I set it up so the Server responds to the sender thatthis is an invalid or unknown receipient. Most of the mail is junk mail to these users and I figure of the messages get sent back eventually they would stop being sent in the first place.
So anybody have a clue? Please let me in on it.
Appriciate it Much
