Exchange sizing

How would I be able to reduce the size of the exchange store. On a week to week basis the store grows by 50 MB. We are limited for space at present and need some means to reduce space.

Also, Echange has been generating 5 MB text files of the data it has stored. Generally I eliminate them weekly. Is there a way that Exchange will eliminate them automatically?
