Explorer.exe app error

Running win98 and Upon bootup, I intermittently receive a explorer.exe app error. though the machine is functional, my apps in startup don’t load. sometimes, I even get a blue screen which by select the enter key I can continue. It’s very annoying!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
