Guys,
For some reason our mail server – SBS2000 running the Exchange that comes with SBS2000 – is having problems. Our setup is that our external mail goes through SurfControl e-mail filter which sits on port 25 with exchange on 26.
In the last few days we haven’t been able to send e-mails. The errors that show in SurfControl is “Failed to connect to host…..” When using the command prompt and using the command “telnet mx1.hotmail.com 25” that also fails. I am however able to do that on other servers and PCs.
When rebooting the server for the first few minutes after that reboot we are able to send mail but then something happens and suddenly it is unable to connect to anyone’s mail server. It doesn’t matter where the mail is heading for, no receiving mail server will accept the telnet session whereas minutes before it would.
Has anyone got any ideas what is causing this? It only started the other day after a reboot.
Cheers,
Ash.
