failed to boot — update /etc/fstab

hello,

I have a linux system run redhat 7.3 kernal 2.4.18-X run ext3. Hard drive is IDE not SCSI. It was run fine in, but some how it happen when I reboot the system, with out changing anything. When it start up it come to the point check update /etc/fstab, then it hang there. Is there a way to fix this. Please help, thank you.
