Failed VPN access to member server

by razz2 . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

I have a client with a WIN NT 4
network of 4 servers. The servers are
1 PDC, 1 BDC, 1 Member file server,
and 1web server. I have a VPN setup
through a Watchguard Firewall. This
has always worked. The company
has just moved, now strange
happenings! I can connect to the
VPN, and I am validated by both the
Firewall and the Domain. Now the
BUT…I can access all machines
through Network Neighborhood (or
My Network Places), I can “net view
\\anymachine” too… that is except for
the fileserver. All machines are on
the same subnet and the VPN client
gets ip from DHCP. I do not mean I
just can’t open a share. I mean that
in Network neighborhood I ca’t open
the machine to see shares. I get a
dialog saying”Incorrect password or
unknown username for: \\fileserver”.
It then asks “Connect As:” if I connect
as Administrator the machines
opens to show shares. If I try a “net
view” command, I get a list of all
machines including the fileserver. If i
try “net view \\fileserver” I get “System
error 5 has occurred. Access
Denied”. Access denied for a net
view? Anyone have any ideas?

It has to be easy, I mean
permissions for viewing shares? All
shares and new test shares are
Everyone Full Access.

Thanks to anyone with time to help!

Steve
