File and Print Sharing

What security concerns would I have if I setup File and Print Sharing on local PCs?
Here are the details:
1. PCs are on a state-wide WAN that feeds smaller local office LANs.
2. The OS on the PCs is Windows 98 & 98SE.
3. TCP/IP with DHCP is used for Internet access and Email.
4. Novell is needed only for accessing the servers on the campus LAN.
