File Icons

by dpayment1 . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

This has probably been addressed in the past, but I can’t find references to it, so here goes again.

Several times in the past, I’ve noticed that as my file folders get larger, it takes longer and longer for Windows Explorer to be able to update the screens. All of this “appears” to be related to Windows having to draw the icons for each file in the folder, even when I only ever use the “Details” View. I usually always look through my files by extension type, rather than relying on an icon.

I’d like to be able to turn off the icon view in Windows Explorer. Does anyone know if this is even possible, and if so, how do I go about doing it.

Thanks in advance,
Dan Payment
