file system error

by bohicam1 . Updated 23 years, 10 months ago

I just turned on my server (linux RH 7.0) and received the following…
checking root file system
/contains a file system with errors, check forced.
/:
Inode 16057 has illegal block(s).

/: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY
(ie., without -a or -p options)
*** an error occurred during the file system check
*** dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
*** when you leave the shell
give root password for maintenance
or type ctrl + D for normal startup:

I tried the ctrl + D and it just rebooted to the same error message. I then tried to type fsck for each of the file system errors and got sick of that after a while.
I am a newbie and would appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Mike
