Fix for FQDN (Win98SE)

by acarpin . Updated 25 years, 3 months ago

I am trying to get my Win98SE computers to participate in a Windows 2000 domain using only TCP/IP. Using winipcfg/all I am satisfied that my network settings have been properly configured.

However the machine still report that “No domain controller is available to authenticate my password…”

In Article ID Q242000 Microsoft memtioned that a fix is now available for this problem. Apparently it is to do with Win98 clients not actually registering their host name with the DNS server. Version 4.10.2223 or later of “vdhcp.386” is needed, which I cannot get hold of.

Can anybody help.

Many thanks
