Floppy disk access and Disk Defragmenter

I have been having a problem with Disk Defragmenter
accessing the A: drive whenever I defragment the C: drive. Disk
Defrag checks the floppy disk drive then goes through
defragmenting the C: drive with no problems. This started to
happen two weeks ago. (I defrag the C: drive every two weeks
and it did not do this two weeks ago). I always disable Norton
antivirus and Task Scheduler so they cannot be interfering with
Disk Defrag. I cleared out all shortcuts in C:\windows\recent and
also checked all shortcuts for pointers to the A: drive and did not
find any. No new software has been installed onto the pc either.
Not sure what is going on here. Thanks in advance for your help.
