Formatting Laptop Acer

Hi all,
Im encountering a problem with my OS. I wish to format my aspire 5550 model due to OS corrupted but then when i inserted the Windows XP cd which is original, it shows me this

‘The Disk or CD you inserted may be Damaged. Press Enter to try again. Make sure you are using the correct disk or CD. if you continue to see this message, try using a different copy of the disk or CD.’

Before, i can encure that the Windows XP is worked on other PC. Besides, i dont have any recovery disk for the laptop used. In addition, the previous OS was not original since i bought at the first place.

Please offer your opinion and solution for me. Thanks all your kind attention.
