FTP folder Error

I have the following error when i try to access the FTP server from a windows 2000 professional SP4 with Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 —->

FTP Folder Error: Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the filename correctly and that you have permission to access the folder.

Details:A connection with the server could not be established.

I tried all of the following ways:

1) Internet Explorer—> Properties—> Advanced—>enable folder view for ftp checked.
2) Checked the ” Use Passive FTP ”

None of the above works.

Also i am able to access the ftp site from command prompt:
i mean ftp servername works fine in command window.
