Future of OpenVMS

I am curious what the impact to OpenVMS is the announcment that Compaq is phasing out the Alpha. Does anyone see VMS having a future on the Intel platform. Compaq claims they port it and support it. Does anyone believe they will still be saying this in a few years? When do you think VMS is dead?
