Gathering System Information

Our school has 3 computer labs as well as many administrative machines, and we want to maintain a listing of the entire configuration for each individual system, including hardware, network grouping, Internet connection info, and installed software.

Is there a software program that will help automate this process? We now use a variety of sources to comprise what we need, including Windows utilities, cpu identifying apps, Novell and NT information, simple directory listings, etc.

Our primary client platform is Windows 98, second edition.
