Glossary of Terms

I’m looking for anyone who knows of a book or website that just simply gives definitions for acronyms for protocols and what they do. In all my certifications I have yet to even begin to see some of the protocols and stats that the protocol analyzer finds on our network. I just want to know what they stand for and what they do or what produces them. I’m not looking for the blueprints to how they work and just simply what they are. Thanks for any help you may provide.
