grub> prompt only

I installed rh9 as the 3rd os on my laptop (compaq nx9010)— 2 winXP installs. Linux is on the 3rd primary partition and the swap file is the first logical drive in an extended partition.

When I choose the linux boot, I get to a grub> prompt, and it does not appear that there is much I can do from there.

Does this mean that Grub can’t find it’s config file? How do I tell it where to find it? Or how can I edit the config file so that I can get linux to boot?
