Guidance For Purchasing Laptop / Desktop

I am software Developer. I want to purchase Laptop / Desktop for my personal use. I use Microsoft .net 2005 for development. I am confused whether to purchase Desktop or Laptop. Please guide for this. And also suggest me what should be the PC Configuration
