Hard drives constantly thrashing

Can someone help me find out why my mirrored harddrives (hardware raid 1) constantly are thrashing? If I reboot the server system runs fine for a day but then the performance takes a dive and the hd’s are cranking away. Any help on what perf monitortools to use or what ever to check would be appreciated
