Having to re-register DNS on W2K Pro

I have been seeing an increasing number of my Windows 2000 Professional PC’s losing the ability to connect to or ping certain servers on our network. The quick-fix for this symptom is to re-register dns on the PC, but I don’t have to do this for my W9X machines. Has anyone seen this particular issue?
