Help – Delete in Windows XP Home Edition

Every time I want to delete a file, a single click immediately responds. I used to have to DOUBLE click before deleting.
I can’t find how to change back to double click and, to my knowledge, have never altered anything to make Windows act in this way.

Anyone out there have the solution ?
I am sure the answer is simple !
