Help! Laptop screen gone!

I’m using a HP OmniBook XE3, a few days ago I was just closing my the laptop, but I didn’t realized that I have my hand on my keyboard, so my hand ended up hitting a few keys. After I open it back up, I found the screen’s light is gone. It is not completely black, I can actually see that the screen is working, but it is just really dark. I have already tried to turn the screen brighter, but it doesn’t work. Someone please help! Thank you.
