Help me setup a mail server please!! Ex

I am currently laid off & trying to make good use of the time. I have set up a home network system with xp pro as the operating system & 3 pc’s & 3 printers on a hub. We have satellite internet access on all 3.

I want to setup a mail server at home. It will be experience for future use as well as help my many teenagers keep track of their email. I own the latest version of Lotus Notes & am playing with setting up a domino server. Can anyone get REALLY basic on what I would need? How toget started? If you can use Notes with Exchange & not Domino? What do you recommend and how?
