Hitting the wall with Paint Shop Pro XI

by robo_dev . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

Do lots of photo layouts and editing with Paint Shop Pro XI.

Fairly fast PC: (Intel Dual-Core 3.2 GHZ Dell PC, 4GB 800mhz RAM, 512MB nVidia PCIx video card).

Have spent lots of time tweaking the PC (XP Pro) and playing around with PSP cache settings, disabling the organizer, etc etc.

On smaller images it works fine, but when working on larger images it’s a dog on downers…also have a large group of photos to organize, which does not help. PSP is a processor hog.

Reading the reviews, it looks like PSP X2 won’t buy me any performance, in fact it might be worse.

My thoughts are:

a) Throw even more hardware at it…Gaming PC?
b) Give Adobe a try (photoshop elements).
c) Look into a Macintosh?
