greetings.
i have used a couple different network types for my home network. most of my pc’s are running windows XP pro, with other win2k machines in and out of the network periodically. i find it is the best way for me to really study the different types of networks. i run my dsl line into a linksys router and then to the downstream clients. recently i have been having much luck with static ip routing. however, i dislike the extensive port forwarding that i have to do for my gaming machine to work for most online multiplayer games. i hope to open a lan/wan type of business with online gaming as a focus but would like to be able to have each pc on the network have the same ability to connect to online games. my question is what should be the easiest way to configue this type of network? should i try something other than static ip? my thoughts were of running an internal dhcp server. thoughts?
sincerely,
IT student. (always learning)
