I usually don’t do anything with home networking at all, just with the domain where i work so i don’t have alot of experience here. Enough to be dangerous but i can’t seem to figure this out.
One of my friends recieved a Laptop computer for christmas and is trying to “protect” his files over the network, (laptop is running media center edition… his main comp is running xp pro) but he wants to be able to access them over the network. Now usually i would just go into permissions and set the appropriate login permission for the shared folder desired. However on his home network, there is no domain obviously, and he can’t browse to the other computer to allow access from that log in. Nor is there any way that i know of to set a password to a certain folder over a network without using third party software.
Would apprecitate any help you could provide, thanks.
