Hotfixing SMS 2.0 admin consoles prior t

Hi! I’m pulling my hair out trying to get SMS SP2 ready to deploy in our (huge) organization. The problem is this…

We currently have a large number of workstations per site, as well as the infamous “shared logon point” syndrome in some of the sites. Every workstation has an SMS admin console on it (these are airports, and the admin needs to access any PC from anywhere else.) Hotfix Q252717 specifies (when run on the site server in our test lab) that the administrator consoles must be upgraded manually. That would be easy, except that we don’t want site administrators running around to 200+ workstations to copy two files.

I’ve tried to create a package to automate this, but the batch file I wrote to copy the two files from the site server can’t access the network share. This isn’t surprising, since I set the package to run with administrative rights. (SMS packages run this way run in the context of the LOCAL administrator account.)
