Hotspot still work if I switch carriers

I have a cricket Huawei elate smartphone and I currently have cricket I want to switch to metro and still use the same phone, it says that the phone will work with metro but what I’m wondering is that when I switch will I still be able to use hotspot from this phone still my new carrier?
